The 2006 Viognier is a blend of three selected Mountain vineyards, each offering unique characteristics. The Honeychurch vineyard Viognier located in Shenandoah Valley gives a tremendous nose of white peach and banana, complemented with complexity derived from its barrel fermentation in French oak. The Roussanne from the Elenridge vineyard in El Dorado County provides great mouth feel layered with floral notes and a hint of almond. The tiny amount of Marsanne from the Fenaughty vineyard completes this wine in the style of a full body white Rhone.
We’ve had great success pairing this simply with brie topped with apricot spread on a sweet Baggett - such an easy and fast appetizer which makes the wine shine even brighter.
This wine would also compliment turkey, pork dishes and bigger bodied fish dishes, especially served with sweet and sour sauces or fruit salsas and compotes. You can also have fun pairing this wine with spicy Asian dishes for an amazing contrast, making all flavors of food and wine pop.
Overall, a wonderful wine for entertaining and gift giving!
