Well, another month has gone by and Biba is in great form and spirits. We spent a few days of R&R in Napa Valley during the last week of June. It was pure relaxation with no special agenda, and we thoroughly enjoyed just talking and walking. One day, while driving leisurely on the frontage road of Highway 29 just south of Yountville, we came across a wine tasting room we hadn’t previously noticed. Nestled among a cluster of trees in the Oak Knoll district of Napa, Silenus Vintners was a most unusual and pleasant surprise. A wine-making facility as well as a tasting room, Silenus Vintners is home to several small artisan wineries in the area. It was a breath of fresh air especially since we were not on a wine-tasting mission. Owners Bob and Joni Williamson have done a marvelous job establishing a state-of-the-art crush pad facility and a large, customer-friendly tasting room. Ericka Iten in the tasting room provided expert guidance and introduced us to some hard to find wines. And owner Bob Williamson was on hand to showcase his Ideology Cabernet Sauvignon. Wow, what a wine. Brian Graham, owner/winemaker of Ramian Estate Wines, was also at the tasting room that day, and I was fortunate to taste his La Morra, a Dolcetto/Nebbiolo blend – a wine that is a natural for Biba Restaurant. We were also extremely pleased and proud to learn that Silenus Vintners is the official tasting room for several very fine wines featured at Biba Restaurant – Scott Harvey Wines, Modus Operandi Cabernet Sauvignon, Due Vigne Dolcetto, and Gridley Cabernet Franc . On your next visit to Napa Valley, be sure to drop in at Silenus Vintners located at 5225 Solano Avenue, Napa, CA 94558, one of the best kept secrets in Napa Valley. |
